The highlights of this Financial Analyst, Global Commercial Projects job in Galway:

In this newly created Finance Analyst job in Galway for all Global Commercial Projects (typically $50m – $300m budgets), you will get a chance to put your own mark on a company that is expanding rapidly into new markets globally. Joining a $2bn organisation with a large finance team in Galway, you will call upon your refined analytical skills to provide end to end financial management, and profitability analysis of all commercial projects in the company globally.

You will work closely with Programme Managers, the Global Commercial Finance Director, Manufacturing, Engineering, Technology Planning, I.T Development and Supply Chain teams globally (the Project Stakeholders) to analyse, monitor and report on costs, budgets and forecasts for up to 20 projects, of which 4 to 5 will need specific attention at a time. The size of the projects will vary from small (standard, non-complex projects) to medium (approx. $50m budget, spanning over 3 to 4 years) to large (budgets of $250-300m spanning 7 to 8 years in execution).

The tasks and responsibilities will include:

  1. Work in conjunction with Project Stakeholders to accurately track profitability of all projects.
  2. Allocate costs to each project based on activities or contract agreements
  3. Prepare cost analysis for month end and quarterly reviews. Analyse project costs, income statements, pricing, hourly rates, deferred revenue, inventory, work in progress, and project accruals
  4. Review projects forecast ‘v’ budget and investigate and explain significant variances.
  5. Provide support to financial and non-financial budget holders, while challenging budgets and improving accuracy of reforecasts.
  6. Consolidate, and present the financial results to senior leadership teams to support decision making, with a focus to reduce costs and increase profitability across projects
  7. Ensure quality in Project Accounting controls in accordance with statutory requirements and corporate governance

This Financial Analyst job in Galway is an excellent opportunity for commercially astute, recently qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA with approx. 2-5 years PQE) who wishes to work on complex global projects with a world-leading organisation.

While previous experience in profitability analysis of commercial projects is not necessary, some exposure to commercial projects will be highly beneficial. However a desire to work with impressive leaders across all disciplines, as well as proven skills in extracting and manipulating complex financial data from MS Excel and ERP systems to aid decision making in an international environment, is a must.
