This varied and stimulating Financial Analyst job in the medical device sector in Galway, offers you complete autonomy and ownership, under the direction and support of the Financial Controller, thus offering you excellent self-achievement and personal development opportunities.

Empowered with a diverse and challenging qualified accountant job in a high growth, dynamic and results orientated environment in Galway, you will work closely with the Site Leadership Team including the Operations Director, R&D Director, Engineering, Manufacturing & HR Managers, as well as with the Company Founder and CEO, to provide financial and management accounting information to the business.

An influential member of the finance team, you will ensure the delivery of all financial accounting, audit, financial analysis, management accounting and cost accounting activities in this medical device manufacturer plant.

As someone who enjoys a new challenge within a supportive environment, you will ultimately take ownership of:

  1. Cost Accounting & Financial Analysis – Support operations and manufacturing teams with cost analysis, project costs and profitability analysis, cost reduction reporting, variance analysis and scenario/business analysis activities
  2. Manage month-end close activities including booking journals, accruals, prepayments, reconciling accounts, maintaining the fixed asset registrar and submitting revenue returns (VAT, VIES, PAYE, PRSI ,etc)
  3. Assist with monthly board packs and presentations, company secretarial activities and complete CSO surveys
  4. Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts, highlighting business issues & recommending cost control actions
  5. Assist with budgets and forecast activities, with full responsibility for monitoring cash flows and controlling AP and AR
  6. Manage R&D Tax Credits and Grant applications
  7. Prepare year-end statutory accounts in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  8. Ensure all accounting and reporting is audit and tax compliant. Liaise with external auditors regarding the statutory financial audit
  9. Monitor, maintain and improve internal controls, identifying weaknesses and recommending improvements.
  10. Deal with queries from stakeholders including group HQ, inter-company & functional heads, auditors, revenue, insurance brokers, customers and suppliers.

Is this job for you?

This job will suit a self-motivated and driven Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), with strong MS Excel skills and some ERP system exposure. Previous exposure to a corporate manufacturing environment, either through direct industry experience or through your client base in Big 4/Top 20 would be beneficial.  This permanent job will allow you to build your accounting skills-set in the supporting environment of this expanding medical device company in Galway. 

Pay and Rewards:

You will be offered an attractive base salary of €55,000-60,000, plus healthcare insurance, pension, and flexibility to work from home 2 or 3 days a week, all while becoming part of a family-orientated and friendly working environment.
